People believe that moles are completely blind but this is not the true since they only
have poor sight. They do have hefty digging paws and they use them to dig the underground
burrows. The Houston mole is a common animal in the Netherlands. Even if they can swim, they cannot
swim for a long distance.
The Texas moles can spend most time in the underground tunnels and the excavation they make may lead
to the molehills. They do feed on the soil invertebrates who fall into these tunnels. The favorite
diet is the earthworms and they are mostly stored to be eaten after time. The moles are normally
solitaire and both the male and female can defend their own territories. The male may extend the
tunnel system in the breeding season to look for the females. The females make a single litter
every year and they are from 2 to 7 number and they are blind and naked. The young will suckle
for a month and will leave the nest. During this period, they will be scattered over the nest and
they can be eaten by predators like cats, dogs, stoats, buzzards and owls. The female Houston moles have
the ovetestes reproductive organs and this means that besides the ovary, they also have testicular
area to produce testosterone.
The Houston mole has cylindrical and elongated body that it is covered in the velvety or black fur.
Even if the eyes may be complete, they are tinny and they are hidden under the fur. They do not have
the external ears and the nose looks naked. Besides the sensitive whiskers, there is large and spade
like forepaws that have been adapted to digging. They do have five robust claws with the permanently
out turned position. The two sexes look the same in their appearance but the males may look a little larger.
So far as the matter of animals is concerned, anyone can have a pet animal but no one would like to have an
animal that is either dead or wild. So, there are lots of ways through which a person can get rid of the Texas animals
he doesn’t want to keep inside the four walls of the house.
The Texas moles can be found around the entire Europe. The moles want to live in the place that it is solid enough to
allow the construction of the extensive burrows. The Houston animals may prefer the parks, gardens, arable lands, pasture
and meadows. The deepest tunnels are used in the time of the low temperature or of draught.
